1. Safety valve - To prevent excessive pressure build up in the boiler. Two types of safety valve, 1. Diaphragm 2. Piston type.
2. Main steam stop valve.
3. Air vent cock.
4. Gauge glass 2 no's
5. Feed check valve.
6. Scum blow down valve.
7. Bottom blow down valve.
8. Salinity cock.
9. Manhole doors.
2. Why we need to do blow down the boiler?
To reduce the density of salt and to remove the dissolved and suspended solids, also the floating solid impurities in the boiler system.
3. If you not to do blow down , what will happen?
If not. foaming, priming corrosion will occur in the boiler steam space and feed water system.
4. Purpose of boiler water test ?
To ensure the proper chemical treatment are maintained at all time.
To detect the present of contaminants in the water that may be injurious to boiler and system.
5. Why circulating pump running continuously?
To prevent thermal stresses to boiler and helps in maintaining more even water temp and eliminates the possibilities of starification.
6. What is superheater ?
Is a device which converts saturated steam or wet steam to Dry steam.
7. What is foaming ?
The formation of thick layer of steam bubbles on the top of the surface inside the boiler due to high concentration of purities.
8. Causes of foaming ?
Boiler water carryover can cause deposits in the valves, superheater, heat exchanger and turbines. it's affect the heat transfer.
